The Dziękuję Award

The Polish Genealogical Society of Michigan proudly announces a new award to celebrate PGSM's Thirtieth Anniversary.  The award celebrates individuals who, by their volunteer service, have enriched the Polish American Genealogical community  A wycinanki (papercut), created by a Polish artist from Lowics, represents the award.  Each papercut is handmade and unique.

Dziękuję Steve!

PGSM is also pleased to bestow the Dziękuję Award to Stephen P. Morse Ph.D. for his development of the "One Step" pages.  His frustrations with the Ellis Island Fondation's search engine lead to the first "One Step."  The Gold Form allows Eastern European researchers to search ship manifests using the Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex developed for Slavic languages.  He continues to develop "One Step" tools for other ports, the U.S. Census, and Holocaust related databases.
